Our supplemental over-the-counter benefit, or OTC benefits, can help with the cost of health items that aren’t covered as a medical or pharmacy expense under your plan.
Use the group over-the-counter item catalog to look up eligible items and review step-by-step instructions.
In stores: Shop for eligible products in the group OTC catalog, shown with a blue label at participating CVS Pharmacy stores. You can also download the OTC Health Solutions app from the App Store or Google Play Store, then scan an item’s label and check if it’s eligible. After you finish shopping, go to any checkout register and show your Sharp Direct Advantage member ID card. Read important details about in-store shopping.
Online: First, create an OTCHS account with your unique email address . Sign in to cvs.com/otchs/sharp once you have your account. To order online:
Your order will arrive in 7-14 days. You’ll receive an email with tracking information to confirm your order is placed, when your order has shipped and another email to confirm when your order has been delivered. If an item in our order is out of stock, you will receive an email notification.
By phone: Browse the group OTC catalog first. Then call OTC Health Solutions at 1-888-628-2770 (TTY: 711) and place an order over the phone. They’re available on weekdays from 9 am to 8 pm, Pacific time.
Our Sharp Direct Advantage CalPERS plan features a supplemental over-the-counter (OTC) benefit. Members enrolled on these plans will be issued a preloaded debit card, the Sharp Health Plan Advantage Card, that can be used to purchase eligible items in-store at participating retailers. Participating retailers include Walmart, CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid, Vons, Albertsons, and Ralphs. You can still place an order online or over the phone if you prefer. This benefit can help with the cost of necessary health care items that are not covered as a medical or pharmacy expense under your plan. And it can help you save money on a wide selection of products like pain relievers, cold medications, first aid supplies, dental care and more.
Here are some tips to help you understand how to use your OTC benefit.
The OTC benefit gives you an allowance each quarter (three-month period) to spend on products like cold medications, first aid supplies, dental care and more. The allowance will be added to your preloaded Sharp Health Plan Advantage Card every quarter.
You can now use your new Sharp Health Plan Advantage Card to make purchases at over 68k retailers nationwide including CVS, Walmart, Rite Aid, Walgreens, Vons, Albertsons, and Ralphs.
Benefit dollars do not carry over from one quarter to the next, so it’s a good idea to plan ahead and check the catalog each month for items you may need.
You cannot combine your CVS ExtraCare® card when placing your OTC order online or over-the-phone.
When ordering online or over-the-phone, items with special limits are marked on the catalog and on the dedicated online website.
Online and phone orders cannot exceed your allowable benefit for the quarter. When making in-store purchases, you can cover the additional balance with another form of payment if you choose.
Shipping is free when ordering from our online catalog! There are no shipping or handling fees. Orders typically take 7 to 14 business days to arrive, so please plan ahead to ensure you have enough supplies.
