Get the care you need, as soon as you need it

Whether you’re looking for care with a specialist or while you’re traveling, we have options for you.

Find a doctor

Need to find a new doctor? Use our helpful doctor search tool or download a provider directory for your network.

Your primary care physician

Your primary care physician or PCP is your main point-of-contact for all of your healthcare needs. He or she will handle your care, coordinate any treatments, refer you to a specialist, if you need one, and more. You can contact your PCP’s office 24 hours a day.

Urgent care or ER?

Contact your primary care doctor first to determine if a visit to urgent care is necessary. Urgent conditions are not emergencies, but may need prompt medical attention.

Video and phone visits with your doctor

As a Sharp patient, you may have the option of appointments with your doctor from the convenience of your smartphone, computer or tablet.

With nine hospitals throughout the San Diego and Southern Riverside counties, we’ve made it convenient for you to get quality care without having to go too far from home. Find the hospital nearest to your location.

When you're looking for convenient treatment for a minor illness or injury, you can visit MinuteClinic®. These are medical clinics located inside select CVS Pharmacy® stores nationwide.

What to ask your care team

Every time you talk to a health care provider — PCP, specialist, a nurse or another person on your care team — we recommend asking these three basic questions:

What is my main problem?

What do I need to do?

Why is it important for me to do this?

If you have more questions

When can I ask questions?

Anytime! For example, you can ask your PCP questions during your visit, before or after your physical exam or medical test. You can ask your nurse when you are having your vital signs taken. You can also call the Sharp Health Plan Customer Care at 1-855-995-5004.

What if I ask and still don't understand?

Let your PCP, nurse or provider know if you still don’t understand. You could say, “This is new to me. Will you please explain that to me one more time?”

I'm nervous asking questions. What should I do?

Know that you aren’t alone, and it’s OK to feel nervous — everyone wants help when it comes to understanding health information. When you see your doctor, specialist or nurse, take your time in asking questions. You should never feel rushed or embarrassed if you don’t understand something. It’s okay to ask your provider as many times as you need to.

After-hours pediatric care

When your child is sick or injured, you need to know someone will be there to help. If your plan medical group is Sharp Rees-Stealy, you can receive medical advice, after-hours pediatric care and urgent care services day and night.

Our pediatricians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and staff are ready to care for your family 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Behavioral health

If you’re feeling anxious, depressed or overwhelmed, we’re here for you. It’s important to address these feelings to take good care of yourself. We offer several options, so you can get the support you need.

Chiropractic and acupuncture benefits

You have access to acupuncture and chiropractic benefits at a $15 copay for 20 combined visits per calendar year.

Some hospitals and other providers do not provide one or more of the following services that may be covered under your plan contract and that you or your family member might need: family planning; contraceptive services, including emergency contraception; sterilization, including tubal ligation at the time of labor and delivery; infertility treatments; or abortion. You should obtain more information before you choose a plan. Call your prospective doctor, medical group, independent practice association, or clinic, or call Customer Care at 1-855-995-5004 to ensure that you can obtain the healthcare services that you need.
